research evaluation

through my research i have come to the conclusion that i would be best suited to create a manga/comic. with my passion for them and my desire to tell a story, comics/manga were the best idea.

my research into the history and creation of manga, the circus and the Victorian era has helped me to develop many factors of my project, for instance the theme and genre of my story and also the plot. Seeing what is popular at the moment in terms of manga made for my target market, has helped me to develop my own story that is both new with its Victorian mixed with circus theme, but also still contains some things that are popular with my target market, for example weapons and battles.

I am aiming to create a unique product, influenced by my research activity, which will combine the style of the Victorian era with the colourful patterns of the circus. whilst also mixing it with a creepy dark feeling

  

my research had led me to experimentation. i had experimented in many things for example the style of my comic.

my previous art style was quite girlish and my anatomy was short and chubby. after trying out styles from artists that i admire i had changed my style making it more thin and tall.

i also experimented to see if i could actually create comic pages. first digitally and finally traditionally. this experimentation led to me deciding to create comic pages traditionally in staid of digitally.

i experimented with the materials and tools that were required for me to create comic pages this helped me to gain a better understanding of how long it would take for me to create each page, so when creating a time plan i will know how long i will need to create the desired amount of pages

Leading me to decide to produce a “one shot “ or a “chapter 0” which is manga terminology for a tester chapter, which is  sample to find out if the publication will be popular with the public. with creating a one shot this will meen that i will only have to create 47 -53 pages thus giving me more time to work on fewer pages.

The research on the cost implications led me to decide to produce a printed version of my final product. This will be published on an A5 sized paper and will be bound

over all my research proved to be incredibly helpful, by helping me develop my plot,characters, theme and environment. and also helping me to discover the cost of how much it will be to create my project.
