sketches and designs

manga pages ect

thumb nails
when first creating a manga some people do story boards and skip the thumb nail proses but i decided since i was new at comic making i though it would be best to sketch up small thumbnails of my pages so i know how many there will be

traditional pages

after i finished the thumbnails i started drawing the pages in pencil so i could go over them with a light box and ink

front cover
just before i ended up dropping the comic and swapping to the concept book i sketched out a front cover design.

digital pages

before i completely dropped the comic idea i tried to create some pages digitally but i had the same problem as the traditional. i didn't have enough understanding of how to create good comics

unfortunately due to lac of confidence and due to lack of skills i changed to my concept book idea

clothing designs
for each of the main 6 characters i had decided to create 2 outfits for them. the first being their casual wear and the second their uniforms. all clothing had to follow the same Victorian theme but also show their own uniqueness.

with the uniform i wanted them to be similar but not to be the same. so i kept some aspects of the uniform the same, like the arm bands, the of centre buttons to do the coats up and the shirt collars. also every uniform has the same colour scheme like any other would have
before creating each characters clothing i sketched up a base or template of the body so that i could just simply draw the clothing on. this one is a males torso. when i needed to create the girls uniform i simply edited the sketch.

Basil
because basil has quite an easygoing carefree personality i wanted to make his clothes quite bland. his casual clothing follows a low saturated brown, blue and black colour scheme and the design is quite normal as to not stand out.
the same with his uniform. even though the red and gold on the uniform is quite outgoing. the overall design of his clothing is simple. basils design is the most military inspired design and probably fits the era the most

Gray
influenced by gray's 'safe' and 'boring' personality his casual  and uniform designs also follow this trend. with a simple jacket and trousers design. despite the 'boringness' of the design i chose to add in a bit of colour into his casual clothing. indicating some sense of adventure hidden in his personality.

Lilith

liliths design was made to show her feminine-ness, since she herself is allot more tomboyish.
even though i wanted to make it girly i decided on shorts instaid of a dress of skirt. i thought it would suit her better and it will also be allot easier and logical to fight in combat with shorts rather than a skirt that can be quite revealing.

Noah
since Noah is the youngest member of the group. i wanted something childish, i also wanted his clothing to be a little girlish showing he doesn't quite understand how to dress according to his gender. there is also allot of clashing colours in his casual clothing yet again proving that he doesn't quite understand how to dress nicely

Orum
with orum's clothing i tried to portray his lazy and messiness. in  his casual clothing he has an open jacket and an un-tucked shirt, making it quick to put on. though with his uniform the coat is done up to show the seriousness for his job

Thomas
Thomas' clothing depicts his crazy and cheeky personality. he has a weird  fashion sense and likes strange things. his clothes are vibrant and portrays his obnoxiousness.
page designs
i wanted each page to have the same style of theme throughout the book. so the whole thing looked relevant

the first design i made was a blue and grey colour scheme with the logo at the top centre.
after the beta testing period i was told that a red and cream design would be more relevant since the uniform follow a gold, black and red/pink colour scheme

finished characters

the finished images of each character came out well and each of the uniforms have the same colour scheme.
for the characters in 'Circ' i gave them a red, gold and black colour scheme. but i decided that the colour scheme for the uniform for the rest of the members in the ordinary London military would be opposite. having blue, white and silver.

for the 2 characters from inverse i stuck with a arabic/indian style but to have it a bit different. and since magic exists in 'Inverse' i wanted there to be some part of clothing that glowed. so i gave each character jewellery and bangles with glowing stones and gems.
